About DJ Richard
DJ Richard is the owner and operator of Award Entertainment. He was born in Wales but has lived in New Zealand since he was a baby.

Richard is an avid snow skier, fisherman and enjoys photography, running, cycling, reading, driving and of course, listening to music.

He is passionate about electronic equipment and as you'd expect, all of his DJ gear is the very best that sensible money can buy! 18 months employed in a top-end HiFi retail boutique means that Richard has an extremely critical ear for quality sound. DJ Richard is an enthusiastic member of the Wellington Audio Association, a committee advisory member to the UK Wedding DJ Association and an active member of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce.

You can often see him at functions stepping out into the crowd to listen to the music and adjusting it achieve the best possible fidelity. DJ Richard is also a moderator on the Entertainment Forum of New Zealand's top Bridal and wedding website, the NZ Wedding Planner. He is also one of only three New Zealand graduates of the Marbecca Method Advanced Master of Ceremonies Workshop.

Richard is also the Managing Director of ShowPro Ltd, promoter and organiser of the Wedding Dreams™ Bridal Expo, which was an upmarket wedding show in Wellington. With nearly quarter of a century in the wedding business, Richard's extensive list of contacts in the wedding industry and in-depth knowledge of creating successful events make him the ideal fit for creating this unforgettable event.

About Award Entertainment

Since 1987 Richard has entertained crowds up and down New Zealand and overseas. With Award Entertainment, you can relax and enjoy your night, wherever it is.

For your event Richard will typically entertain for up to six hours without a break, carry a huge diverse range of great original songs and can vary the style of music to suit the occasion. As each event is different, the night can not be ‘play-listed’ before-hand, so at all stages Richard works hard to accurately read the crowd and play accordingly. As far as songs are concerned, he carries all of the old favourites right up to the latest dance tracks.

The DJ equipment is entirely owned and maintained by Award Entertainment to ensure complete familiarity with the operation of each and every component. Electronics designed with professional use in mind rather than domestic appliances are used to ensure the utmost quality and reliability. The lighting (if required) is dynamic, modern and discreet and you'll find that the sound system has great clarity, yet offers plenty of punch when required. Feel free to browse the 'Equipment' section to view some of the lighting and sound equipment currently in use.
