The purchase of a new Honda EU10i portable inverter generator (known in America as the Honda EU1000i) now offers the ability for me to supply music and announcements virtually anywhere. In recent months, I’ve entertained in Auckland, Taupo, Ohakune, Hawkes Bay, Queenstown, Dunedin, Wairarapa and of course, Wellington. In some of the places I’ve been, supply of clean, dependable electricity has been a bit tricky and I’ve been restricted in the location of my rig by the length and safe placement of my extension cords.
There have been occasions where I’ve been asked to provide wedding ceremony sound on a beach, in a garden or even in a marquee where mains electricity isn’t easily accessed. Now there’s almost no restriction to where I can offer beautiful sound.
The Honda was chosen for one main reason. It’s widely regarded as the very best available. It is efficient, quiet and very compact, but it also provides a cleaner, more even power than is sometimes available through the mains. There are a few events coming up in the next few months where the ability to plug in and go away from the mains is going to be hugely valuable. The little red Honda is a most welcome addition to my equipment list!
