One of the largest and most spectacular venue spaces in Wellington, the Dominion Museum Building (formerly Massey University’s Great Hall) is truly a location worthy of a splendid celebration. At 35m long, 15m wide and with a massively high ceiling, the venue is vast. The Dominion Museum Building is now host to the Great War Exhibition, so the spaces available there are more limited. There are certainly still great areas for events.
The acoustics are extremely challenging with an echo that lasts over 7 seconds, which mean that conventional speaker systems typically cause issues with intelligibility of sound. Luckily the Bose L1 Line Array speakers that Richard uses are perfectly suited for the high ceilings and hard surfaces of this venue, as the sound doesn’t get distributed up and down, just forwards and to the sides.
