In the mid 2000s, the Resene Paint company threw spectacular end of year parties for Architects, Builders, Designers and Painters to say thank you for a successful year. These parties were always greatly anticipated and invitations were excitedly cherished. In 2006 and 2007, DJ Richard was booked to accompany Uncle Monkey band to entertain the 800 or so guests at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington

The impressive, purpose built performing arts facility Te Whaea: National Dance & Drama Centre is home to the New Zealand School of Dance. The parties were always great fun, and DJ Richard would start the evening off, then play in the band’s breaks to ensure that the energy level stayed high, while providing even more variety than the incredible Monkey Boys provided. The global financial crisis finally put a stop to the Resene parties, but it’s hoped by many that a return to this sort of client appreciation celebration will start up again now that business confidence and performance are again up and improving.
