One of the most well-loved and busiest wedding venues in the Wellington Region is undoubtedly Wallaceville House, near Upper Hutt. Wallaceville House is a fantastic all-round wedding venue. You can hold your wedding ceremony, reception and have your photographs taken without having to travel off site. They can also provide quality accommodation for your wedding guests.
There is a choice of two wedding reception venues – The beautiful upstairs Ballroom which caters for weddings of 50 to 130 guests and for smaller numbers, the downstairs old-school Jepson Room which opens up to a gorgeous outdoor area and features a large open fireplace.
When photographed in 1968, the former Jepson homestead was known as Mahoney’s Receptions. Neil and Sue Kenny bought the house, near the bottom of the Wallaceville Hill Road, re-named it Wallaceville House on September 3, 1984, and developed it as a wedding and conference centre.
The October 18, 1993 ‘Upper Hutt Leader’ said a two-storey 16-motel unit was under way, and due to open early in December; the units had opened the previous week. On September 29, 1999 the ‘Leader’ printed a picture of the Kennys, and announced that the business had been bought by two couples; Lynne and Bruce Graham brought in Cheryl and Clive Graham, of Wellington; Clive being Bruce’s uncle.
